Generally, homeowners have various options available for walkways: gravel, concrete, slabs, pavers etc. If it’s a tough decision, let’s look at a few ways that a paver interlocking walkway has an advantage:

Look: Unique designs, symmetrical pavers, choice of colour and size

Durability: A properly installed paver pathway should last well over 20 years and should not crack, unlike concrete slabs or concrete walkways often do.

Convenient: It’s far more pleasant to walk on a flat & perfect surface made from pavers rather than slabs, stepping stones, gravel, dirt etc.

Maintenance: Easy to clean snow, that’s pretty much it.

Cost effective: Although the original installation cost might be slightly higher, over the course of time the low maintenance actually makes it cost-effective. For example, concrete cracking requires crack filler if it’s a small crack. However, if it’s a big crack, then a cut out of the concrete is required followed by a re-pour. That takes time, labour, and machinery and is ultimately expensive. On the other hand, although very rare, if a paver cracks… Just lift it and replace it. No problem. 5 minutes, 1 person’s job.

Refresh: After some years under the sun, some of the colours from the paver driveway can fade. In this case, the interlocking pavers are sealed, and it gives them a whole new shine and protection.
